Frequently asked questions

Who needs a professional headshot?

Dubbed “the new handshake,” professional headshots are now the first introduction to you, your business and your personal brand—shouldn’t that intro be the best it can be? With 93% of HR professionals and recruiters tapping into LinkedIn to find quality candidates—plus 2 in 3 on Facebook and more than half utilizing Twitter—that headshot has countless applications in your professional life. Should your profile pic be the family vacation, the fun night out or—worse—the logo or abstract shot? Or should it be a powerful, compelling and confidence-building headshot that makes prospective clients, employers and partners want to click “Connect?”

What do I bring to my headshot session?

It’s important that your look matches the image you’re trying to convey. What you wear on a daily basis is a great place to start. Solid colors are always a good choice, as are tops with strong collars and necklines. Aim for clothes that complement your skin and eye tones and, overall, steer clear of very bold colors

Bring multiple top options to choose from during your our session. Together we will go through all your options and discuss how the different looks will change peoples perception of you. It is good to have options throughout the shoot in case we do not like how one option is showing on camera.

What if I hate having my photo taken?

The majority of us hate having their photo taken because they think they are not “photogenic”, too old, too short, to this, too that. Everyone, and I mean EVERYONE is capable of looking absolutly amazing and authentic in their photos. My job is to make you feel relaxed in front of the camera and get you looking your best.

Do you offer discounts?

I offer a 10% discount for all active military, retired military, veterans and their families. For groups of 5 or more, please contact me to discuss my group discounted rates. All returning clients get 10% of their session fee.

Do you shoot on location?

I shoot at my studio or on location...not all branding and headshots need to be taken at the studio. Sometimes being at your business is more beneficial to tell your story!

Do I need to pay a deposit?

I require a 50% non-refundable deposit upon booking the session. Shooting dates fill up fast so in order for me to keep an accurate studio calendar, the deposit is taken and applies to the final cost of your photoshoot. At the same time, I understand that sometimes life happens and things come up that mean you can't make it. If you can notify me within 48 hrs of the shoot and we can reschedule within 30 days, I'll happily apply that deposit to your next shoot. No shows on the day forfeit the deposit.

What does retouching mean?

Retouching is where I clean up your photos in Photoshop...I don’t go overly crazy with my retouching because we want you to look authentic. Don’t worry about any acne, blemishes, or dark circles under your eyes, that will all be taken care of in the retouching process.

How long does retouching take?

I don't outsource my retouching and take the upmost pride in making your photos look the best, so, it can take up to 10 business days to finish your images.

What forms of payment do you accept?

I accept cash, PayPal and credit card payments (via Square).

What if I have more questions?

If you have any more questions feel free to email, text or call me. (915) 487-8250

Can I see the images you take during the shoot?

Absolutley! When we take breaks or do an outfit change we take a look through the photos on my laptop. This way we see what we may want to change or adjust.

Are headshots and branding portraits a business expense?

Yes, please make sure you will keep all your receipts for taxes.
